Features:
The Uda school was a group of swordsmiths who migrated from Uda District in Yamato Province to Etchū Province. Founded by Ko-Nyūdō Kunimitsu in the late Kamakura period, the school included smiths such as Kunifusa, Kunimune, and Kunitsugu. Works made prior to the Ōei era (from 1394) in the early Muromachi period are referred to as Ko-Uda, while those made thereafter are called Uda. This piece is a Naginata-naoshi Wakizashi. Although it shows some signs of wear and fatigue, its age and historical character can still be appreciated.
Koshirae:
Tsuba: Iron sukashi (openwork) tsuba.
Fuchi: Features a landscape design with a pagoda and other elements. The surface is slightly worn down.
Kashira: Made of horn.
Menuki: The motif is unidentified.
Bashin: Made of iron, depicting Mount Fuji and the sun. As Mount Fuji is still covered with white snow, the scene is thought to represent around May.
