(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo Saku, Jyojyo Saku, Jyo Saku and Regular Saku).
This blade is ranked as Jo-saku among the works of Norifusa.
Habaki: Single-layer silver-covered habaki.
Blade Length: 36.5 cm (14.37 in).
Curvature: 0.6 cm (0.24 in).
Mekugi Hole: 1.
Width at Base (Motohaba): 3.20 cm (1.26 in).
Thickness of rim (Kasane): 0.60 cm (0.24 in).
Sword Weight: 370 g.
Era: Edo period, around the Kanbun era (1661-1673).
Shape: A robust blade with wide mihaba, reminiscent of a naginata.
Jigane: Well-forged ko-itame hada producing an almost muji-like steel surface.
Hamon: Nie-deki with large notare mixed with gunome-midare.
The boshi returns in a small rounded form (komaru).
Features: This blade bears the inscription Norifusa on the mune near the upper part of the tang.
Both sides of the tang are additionally engraved with the kiritsuke-mei, 示単□ 誰知断臂刀鋒下.
This is a highly unusual feature.
The accompanying koshirae is also exceptionally well made.
Koshirae:
Tsuba: Round iron tsuba decorated with brass inlay.
Fuchikashira: Shakudo nanako ground carved with plant motifs and highlighted with gold iroe.
Saya (Scabbard): Dark brown wood-grain lacquered saya fitted with a kojiri.
Menuki: Horses carved on shakudo ground with partial gold iroe.
Kozuka: Shakudo nanako ground with a high-relief design of a pine tree and cranes, highlighted with gold iroe.
