habaki: Gold foiled single habaki

Shape: Wide and thick Katana with longer Kissaki and deep Sori.
There are Bo-Hi on both side of the blade.
Jigane: Itame Hada and Mokume Hada mixed with Chikei. There are Utsuri.
Hamon: Ko Nie Deki, Choji Midare with many small Ashi. The Ha is bright. The Hamon is marvelous. Boshi is Midarekomi and Hakikake style, In the Ha, there are Sunagashi and Kinsuji.

Special feature: Shimada Sukemune was active from Bunan to Tenbun era. He made many Tanto and few Katana. The Jigane is well grained. It is called as Hadamono. He was heavily influenced by Akihiro and Hiroistu, and it is thought that he had connections with the Shimada school. According to Mr.Fukunaga Suiken’s Encyclopedia of Japanese Swords, the first generation of Sukemune wasa around 1444. The 2nd was 1487 to 1504. The 3rd was 1532.

Koshirae :
Saya : Black and red color Saya with Aogaichirashi.
Tsuba : Iron Tsuba, Kiri mon with gold, silver, and copper inlay.
Fuchikashira: Iron Tsuba, Kiri mon with gold, silver, and copper inlay.
Menuki : phoenix is engraved with gold color.
Kurikaga: Silver plate, Dragon? is engraved.

From Aoi Art: Shimada school was active in Suruga province. The Jigane is well grained. And visible to see the texture. Hamon is Soshu Den and Ko Gunome Midare. This Katana is nice shape and has good Shonai Koshirae. We highly recommend this sword for you.
