Features:
Chikuzen-koku Moritsugu was a swordsmith of the Fukuoka Ishido school who was active in early to mid Edo period around Enpo era (1673–1681) . He studied under his cousin Koretsugu, later became his adopted son, and succeeded him as head of the family.
The Fukuoka Ishido school was founded by Koretsugu, who went to Edo and studied the Bizen tradition under Ishido Korekazu under the orders of Kuroda Mitsuyuki, lord of the Fukuoka domain,. After returning to Fukuoka, Koretsugu established the Fukuoka Ishido school, whose swordsmiths served the Kuroda family. The Ishido school produced choji-midare　or gunome midare modeled after those of the Ichimonji school, characterized by a fine and clear nioikuchi.
