Shape:This is a very rare Kikuchi spear attributed to Oishi Sa.
Jitetsu:The ko-itame hada is well forged, with band-like utsuri appearing in the ji.
Hamon:Nie-deki suguha with ko-ashi and long kinsuji.

Special Feature:
The Kikuchi spear is a well-known type of spear from Kyushu. This particular example was attributed to Oishi Sa by the Japanese Sword Museum. The blade is notably thick, with a kasane of 0.80 cm.

The term “Senbon-yari” has two principal meanings. One refers to the spears and spear-fighting tactics devised by Kikuchi Takemori, a warrior of the Nanbokucho period. The other refers to a plant of the Asteraceae family that produces spear-like flower stalks in autumn.
