Features: The Kamiyoshi family were Higo metalworkers active in the late Edo period. The first-generation master studied under the Hayashi family by order of the domain and subsequently became an official metalworker to the Higo Hosokawa family. Fukanobu was the second-generation master and is renowned as a highly skilled craftsman. The finely textured, deep color with a subtle reddish hue is known as “yōkan color” and conveys the exceptional quality of the iron.
