Era : Late Kamakura to early Nanbokucho period, mid 14th century
Shape: wide, thick and stout blade, reshaped from naginata to katana.
Jigane: Itame and Mokume mixed with Masa with intense Chikei. Whtish Utsuri appears.
Hamon: The Naminohira school traces its origins to Masakuni, who is said to have migrated from Yamato Province to Satsuma during the late Heian period, and to his son Yukiyasu. The school continued its tradition through the Edo period. Among its smiths, those who worked prior to the Nanbokucho period are collectively known as the Ko-Naminohira (Old Naminohira) school.
This blade is a magnificent naginata-naoshi katana of bold and powerful proportions. Its impressive jigane displays a striking large-patterned hada enriched with prominent chikei, creating a dynamic and highly attractive appearance.
