The NBTHK attributed this sword to the 3rd-generation Kyō Tanba.

The first-generation Tanba no Kami Yoshimichi was the 3rd son of Kanemichi, the founder of the Mishina school. He moved to Kyoto together with his father and brothers. From the second generation onward, the Yoshimichi lineage split into the Osaka and Kyoto branches, with the Kyoto branch (Kyō Tanba) adopting the practice of engraving a chrysanthemum crest (kikumon) on the tang.
