Description:
Made of shibuichi with a polished ground, the design depicts a Carp ascending a Waterfall executed in sukidashi-bori (carved in relief from the ground), and enhanced with inlay and iroe (colored metal overlays).
*Carp ascending a Waterfall (=Toryu Mon) is the idiom that;
after a carp ascends and goes through a waterfall, the carp turns into a dragon. With the scene, the meaning turned into a “gate of success” in Asian culture.
