Features:
It is said that Izumi no Kami Fujiwara Kunisada was representative swordsmith in Osaka from the early Edo period. He studied under Horikawa Kunihiro and Echigo no Kami Kunitomo, and moved to Osaka around 1620. In 1623, he received the title of Izumi no Kami.
This work has a solid and powerful shape, featuring a bright jigane covered with thick ji-nie, and much Nie forming thick nioikuchi notare hamon. It is a healthy and well-preserved blade that clearly displays the characteristic workmanship of Kunisada.
