Shape:wide, thick, largely carved blade with big kissaki.
Jigane: packed and fine koitame hada
Hamon: Nioi-base CHoji and Juka(overlapping petals-like) Choji with soft Ashi and fine Sunagashi. The nioiguchi is bright, and the hamon is so high that it reaches the edge of the groove.

Features:
Ohno Yoshimitsu is a modern swordsmith born in Niigata Prefecture, who studied under Yoshiwara Yoshindo. Since receiving the Encouragement Award at the 1975 Contemporary Sword Exhibition, he has won numerous awards, and in 1987 he was recognized as a Mukansa (non-judged) swordsmith. He has produced many works in the Bizen style, particularly featuring flamboyant and complex choji-midare hamon reminiscent of Ichimonji, and is well known for his reproduction of National Treasure Sanchōmō.

This tachi was exhibited by Mr. Ono as a “Judge’s Submission,” a category established to present exemplary works by the inspectors, at the NBSK’s 8th Newly Made JapaneseSwords, Polishing and Mountings Craftsmen’s Exhibition (held in conjunction with a competition), organized by the NBSK(the Society for the Promotion of Japanese Sword Culture).

As can be seen from the fact that it was submitted as a Judge’s Submission by Mir. Ohono by himself, this is a masterful work in which Mr. Ono’s accumulated experience and skill are fully brought to bear. The tall choji hamon is densely packed with , creating a powerful visual impression that naturally evokes admiration.
