Goto Ichijo was born as the second son of Goto Shichirobe-Shigenori in Kyoto in 1791.
He was called Eijiro when he was a child, and he became an adopted child of Goto Hachirobe Kanenori.
When he was 11 years old, he started to study under Goto Hanzaemon Kijo.
In 1876, he passed away when he was 86 years old.
Goto Ichijo developed the Goto school style, and his style with graciousness and realism was called Ichijo-fu (style).
Ichijo had a talent of also Haiku, Waka, and painting.
And so, he was well known as the best craftsman in Goto school.
