Habaki: Single-layered made of plain copper.
Blade Length: 22.9 cm (9.02 in)

Width at Base (Motohaba): 2.37 cm (0.93 in)
Thickness of rim (Kasane): 0.89 cm (0.35 in)
Sword Weight: 210 grams
Era: Late Edo period
Shape: A solid and thick tanto called Yoroi-doshi, used to pierce armor.
Jigane: Ko-itame-hada is well-forged and shows a tight and well-slept grain.
Hamon: Nie-deki with small irregular gunome pattern, running from the hamachi to the kissaki.
Features: This piece was appraised as Shinshinto Jyumyo by the NBTHK (Japanese Sword Museum).
Koshirae:
Tsuba: Mokko-shaped small tsuba
Fuchikashira and Kojiri: Made of iron
Saya (Scabbard): Black ishime-ji style saya
Menuki: Shakudo base with high-relief carving of a turtle. Likely made with the intention of symbolizing long life.
Umanokubi (Horse needle): There is a signature, but it is unreadable.
Aoi Art’s Comment: It is said that from old times, Jyumyo blades were often presented as gifts with the hope for long life.
The menuki on this piece similarly reflects the wish for longevity.
