habaki: Silver-foiled single copper Habaki
The blade was polished.
Blade length : 53.6cm or 21.10inches.
Sori : 1.1 cm or 0.43inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi :3.056 cm or 1.20inches.
Width at the Kissaki :2.11 cm or 0.83inches.
Kasane : 0.77 cm or 0.30inches.

Era : The Kyoho era, the Edo period. 1716
Shape : The blade is broad and thick with adequate Sori and longer Kissaki. It is nicely heavy and the blade edge is thick(good Nikuoki). Healthy blade.
Jigane : Masame-hada becomes Notare　and Chikei comes in.
Hamon : Niedeki Gunomemidare is mixed with Ko-Gunomemidare. Sunagashi and Kinsuji work really actively in Hachu with Ashi. There are Sunagashi and Kinsuji also sidewise. Boshi is Midarekomi and becomes round to Hakikake.

Special feature: Chikushu Ju Minamoto Nobukuni Shigekane is a son of Nobukuni Yoshikane, and was originally called Sukeroku or Sukezaemon. He was chosen with Yasuyo and Masakiyo for a post to make swords for Shogunate, and forged a sword of Shogun Yoshimune. And he was approved to use Ichiyo Aoi Mon(family crest) for his achievement. He passed away in Kyoho 13, at the age of 56. His works are similar to Hizen works, but this sword is completely different. It is rare to see his work to be this extreme, and we can say that this is one of the greatest masterpiece he had ever made.

Koshirae :
Tsuba: Nobi-Nakago iron Tsuba. The rim stands up. Grapes are engraved with gold color.
Fuchikashira: Shakudo plate. Hawk is engraved with gold color.
Saya: Black Saya. The surface is made like bubble-texture.
Menuki: Shakudo plate. Dragon is engraved.
Kozuka: Iron plate. Farmer and gate are engraved with gold color.

From Aoi Art: Bikushu Ju Minamoto Nobukuni Shigekane’s work in a healthy condition with the blade that has thick edge, the surface is like a clam shell. The blade is well-made. We truly recommend this one with nicely-made Koshirae.
