Forged in Kyoto on an auspicious day in the first month of Meiji 2 (1869).

Shape: A robust blade with a wide mihaba. The original cutting edge remains intact, the curvature is pronounced, and the boshi is elongated.
Jigane: Well-forged ko-itame hada producing a fine and refined jigane.
Hamon: Nie-deki gunome-midare with active sunagashi and kinsuji. The boshi enters midare.

Features: Fujiwara Nagasada was a descendant of the Akasaka Senjuin lineage of Mino Province. Born in present-day Tarui, Gifu Prefecture, his personal name was Matsui Jiichirō. He was born in Bunka 6 (1809). Many of his blades bear the inscription “Goshōzan Sanroku” (“At the Foot of Mount Goshō”), referring to the site where Tokugawa Ieyasu is said to have commanded his army during the Battle of Sekigahara. Around the Kōka era (1844–1848), Nagasada moved to Edo and studied under Taikei Naotane. He refined his swordmaking skills in Aoyama, Edo, and later became an official swordsmith to the Kishū Tokugawa family. He passed away in June 1869 (Meiji 2) at the age of 61. Nagasada was highly regarded as a conscientious swordsmith whose works were consistently of high quality, with no inferior pieces. It is even said that some of his finest blades had their signatures removed and were later attributed as superior Koto works. As a result, comparatively few signed examples survive today.

Tsuba: Round shakudo nanako tsuba with high-relief carvings of a lion and peonies, decorated with gold iroe. The rim is fitted with a gold fukurin.
Fuchikashira: Shakudo nanako fittings with high-relief carvings of a lion, decorated with gold iroe. Signed Yanagawa Naomitsu.
Saya (Scabbard): Green lacquered saya with scattered mother-of-pearl decoration.
Menuki: Lion motif with gold iroe.

Sayagaki: Ōshū Sendai-jū Fujiwara Kunikane. Signed blade with a length of 1 shaku 6 sun 6 bu. October, Showa 27 (1952). Hon’ami Kō… (the final character is unclear).

Era: Around the Kanbun era (1661–1673), Edo period.
Shape: A wakizashi with a relatively wide mihaba, standard kasane, noticeable curvature, and an elongated kissaki.
Jigane: Well-forged masame hada with a fine and refined appearance.
Hamon: Gunome-midare. The boshi turns back in a rounded form.

Features: The second-generation Ōshū Sendai-jū Kunikane was the eldest son of the first-generation Yamashiro Daijō Kunikane. He succeeded the family in Shōhō 2 (1645), received the title Yamashiro no Kami in Kanbun 7 (1667), and passed away in Kanbun 12 (1672) at the age of 61.
