Aoi Art’s Comment:Sagami no Kami Fujiwara Hiroshige is also known as a Shimohara (Shitahara) swordsmith,
though some craftsmen avoided using the “Shimohara” name on their works, as seen in this piece.
Nevertheless, Shimohara swords were highly regarded for their sharpness,
which contributed to their popularity.
In Daibosatsu Toge, a famous novel and film starring Chiezo Kataoka,
the character Musashi Taro Yasuyuki, a disciple of Omura Kaboku,
is depicted as a swordsmith of the Shimohara school in Hachioji, Musashi Province,
known as Yamamoto Kinzaemon.
Due to its appearance in various novels and adaptations,
Shimohara swords gained recognition, particularly through their association with Daibosatsu Toge.
