Era:Late Edo period.
Shape:The blade has a solid width, with bo-hi grooves carved about one-third on both sides, and a kenmaki-ryu carving on the ura side, featuring a long boshi and a well-balanced shape.
Jigane:Ko-itame hada well forged, resulting in a fine and refined steel.
Hamon:Nie-deki gunome-midare with active ashi, extending into a midare-komi boshi.

Previously, the Sword Museum issued an appraisal as Mumei Den Kurihara Nobuhide.
Although unsigned, it is a well-made piece of high quality.
Aoi Art’s Comment:Although unsigned, this work has been appraised as Kurihara Chikuzen no Kami Nobuhide.
It features carvings on both sides of the blade, a gunome-midare hamon, and a large, extended boshi, making it a highly accomplished piece.
