The Enju school was a group of swordsmiths from Higo who flourished from the late Kamakura period to the Nanbokuchō period, with Enju Tarō Kunimura regarded as the founder. Notable smiths of the school include Kunimura and Kunitoki.
In this work, the jigane is clear and well-forged with visible grain, and the hamon is bright and vivid, creating a very attractive blade.
However, as shown in the photographs, there is one notable point: a large chip in the edge located approximately 1–2 cm above the hamachi. As it is in a position that cannot be hidden by the habaki, please take note.
