Era: Late Kamakura period to Nanbokucho period.
Shape: A well-proportioned katana with wide mihaba, thick kasane, deep curvature, and a slightly extended kissaki.
Jigane: A tightly forged jigane.
Hamon: Nioi-deki, a suguha with active ko-ashi, and utsuri appearing clearly.
Features: The Shikkake school, one of the five Yamato traditions, traces its origins to Norinaga and was active from the late Kamakura period to the Nanbokucho period.
This work has a graceful appearance with deep curvature and displays excellent workmanship.
Tsuba: An iron tsuba in vertical round shape with openwork carving of karigane (wild geese), signed Umetada.
Fuchikashira: Shakudo nanako ground carved with autumn grasses and autumn insects, highlighted with gold iro-e.
Saya (Scabbard): Black roiro lacquered saya.
Menuki: Design of kirin, carved and decorated with gold iro-e.
