Era: the mid Edo period, around Genroku (1688-1704).
Shape: The blade has substantial width and thickness, with a slightly long kissaki.
Jigane: Well-forged ko-itame hada forming a refined jigane, with the clearly visible patterns.
Hamon: Nie-deki suguha with rounded Boshi.
Features: Omi Daijo Fujiwara Kanesada was a swordsmith of Aizu. This work shows slight nie-deki with a wide suguha, and the jigane is clearly visible.
Koshirae:
Tsuba: Shakudo nanako base carved with a Shi-shi dog and golden frame.
Fuchikashira: motif of waves, a wheel and plovers.
Menuki: a motif of phoenix.
