Explanations:Tokujō was the fifth head of the main Gotō family, which traced its lineage back to Gotō Yūjō. His common name was Genjirō Mitsumoto. He was born in Kyoto as the legitimate eldest son of his father, Mitsunori. The Gotō family had for generations made sword fittings as their hereditary profession and served the Ashikaga shogunate during the Muromachi period; however, after the fall of the Ashikaga clan, Tokujō entered the service of Oda Nobunaga and later Toyotomi Hideyoshi.
