Shape: A well-balanced blade with standard width and thickness, slightly short in length with deep curvature and a large boshi.
Jigane: Ko-itame hada, well-forged and beautiful in appearance.
Hamon: Long yakidashi, moderate curvature, extended and angular gunome-midare pattern.
The boshi is rounded with deep turn-back and includes yakiba on the shinogi-ji.
Features: Musashi Taro Yasukuni is one of the most well-known swordsmiths of the Bushu school.
He gained further fame through the film Daibosatsu Toge, where the character played by Chiezō Kataoka (later Raizō Ichikawa) used a sword made by Yasukuni.
At that time, movies were a dominant form of entertainment, and many frequently watched productions by Toei and others.
Among Bushu swords, Yasukuni’s works—especially those inscribed with Shin Ju-go Mai Kojō Saku—are highly sought after.
He was a student of Omura Kahoku, of the Shimohara school, and lived in Azabu, Edo.
Most of his works are engraved with “Shin Ju-go Mai Kojō Saku,” which refers to the forging structure he employed.

Tsuba: Round iron tsuba with an openwork design of a spiral shell
Fuchikashira: Shakudo nanako-ji base with patterns in gold and shakudo
Saya (Scabbard): Uniquely lacquered saya
Menuki: A person in high relief, detailed with gold iroe coloring
Aoi Art’s Comment: Musashi Taro Yasukuni is a well-known swordsmith who commonly engraved “Shin Ju-go Mai Kojō Saku” on the tang.
He was a student of Omura Kahoku.
