Habaki: Silver foiled single Habaki.

Shape: A tanto likely forged in the Tsukuri style.
Jigane: Ko-itame well-forged, nearly muji (plain).
Hamon: Nie-deki with deep nioiguchi and a notare pattern.

Features:　This tanto is thought to have been produced around the late Edo period.
Carvings are present on both sides of the tang (nakago), and there is evidence of suriage and a modified machi.

Koshirae:
Saya (Scabbard): Covered in samegawa (rayskin).
Menuki: Made of shakudo with high-relief carvings of what appears to be acorns or chestnuts.

Aoi Art’s Comment:This work is considered to date from the late Edo period.
Bonji characters and grass motifs are carved into the tang.

Era Background:Bakumatsu period (1853–1868).
