We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo Saku, Jyojyo Saku, Jyo Saku and Regular Saku.
This work is ranked as Jyojyo Saku.
Habaki: Single-layered plain copper.
Blade Length: 37.7 cm (14.84 in).
Curvature: 0 cm (0.00 in).
Mekugi Hole: 1.
Width at Tip: 2.26 cm (0.89 in).
Thickness of rim (Kasane): 1.08 cm (0.43 in).
Sword Weight: 345 grams.
Overall Length of Shirasaya: 54 cm (21.26 in).
Era: Early Muromachi period, around Eikyo era (circa 1429).
Shape: The blade has standard width with a thick kasane of 1.08 cm, and the upper portion is carved down on the shinogiji, giving it a naginata-like appearance.
Jigane: Ko-itame hada is well-forged and tightly packed, appearing nearly plain.
Hamon: Choji-midare in nie-deki style with notare elements. Inside the hamon, there are sunagashi and kinsuji activities. The boshi is hakikake style with a deep kaeri. The hamon continues up to the tip of the shinogiji.
Features:This spear has a naginata-like appearance with a long blade and thick kasane, showing excellent craftsmanship.
It well represents the distinctive style of Oishi Sa.
Aoi Art’s Comment:The Japanese Sword Museum attributed this Kikuchi yari to Oishi Sa.
It is extremely rare to find a Kikuchi yari made by Oishi Sa.
Highly recommended for collectors.
