Features: A design of Yatsuhashi (zigzag bridge and irises) is engraved using ke-bori (hairline engraving) on an iron tsuba in the shape of a five-lobed mokkō (quince flower) with tsuchime-ji (hammered surface).
Mr. Nariki Issei (born in 1931, Showa 6) studied under the late Mr. Takahashi Kaisyu and has long dedicated himself to the reproduction of iron tsuba from Owari, Akasaka, Kanayama, and other schools. He personally collected iron sand from various regions across Japan and endeavored to recreate the jigane (iron ground) used in these tsuba through his own tatara iron-smelting process.
