The 1st-generation Miyoshi Nagamichi was a renowned swordsmith representing the Aizu region. Due to the exceptional sharpness of his blades, he was nicknamed the “Aizu Kotetsu,” and his style also bears similarities to that of Kotetsu.
According to the appraisal by the Japanese Sword Museum, this blade bears a substitute signature by Chūjō Nagashige, a student of the first-generation Nagamichi.
The koshirae is simple yet tasteful, reflecting the refined austerity characteristic of an Aizu samurai.
