We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo Saku, Jyojyo Saku, Jyo Saku and Regular Saku.
This work is ranked as Jyojyo Saku among the swords by Ecchu no Kami Nyudo Kijū of Koriyama in Yamato province.
Habaki: Gold-covered single piece

Era: Mid-Edo period, around Genbun era (1741)
Shape: Wide blade with slightly thick kasane and moderate curvature, boshi is somewhat extended.
Jigane: Clearly visible hada, with occasional yakiba appearing in the shinogiji.
Hamon: Gunome-midare rises from the hamachi, forming a highly active and undulating tōranba style.
Inside the hamon, sunagashi and kinsuji are present, and the boshi shows irregular midare.
Features: Kijū, originally named Terukuni, was the son of Ecchu no Kami Kanekuni.
He was active mainly around the Kan’ei, Shōtoku, and Kyōhō eras.
He became a monk around Hōei 3 (1706).
This blade features a dynamic gunome-midare with deep nioiguchi, rich in activity such as kinsuji and sunagashi within the hamon.
The boshi is round with sweeping hakikake.
The front and back inscriptions are carved with “Oite Washu Koriyama Ecchu no Kami Nyudo Kijū”, and the bold, highly active tōranba hamon is truly remarkable.
Koshirae:
Tsuba: Shakudo migaki-ji with engraved and gold-inlaid motifs of peony and plum blossoms.
Rim is silver covered.
Fuchikashira: Shakudo with engraved design of bamboo and figures, with gold inlay.
Signed: Masaharu.
Saya (Scabbard): Aogai (blue shell inlay) with painted dragonflies in black.
Kojiri: Shakudo with high-relief carving of Gama Sennin (Toad Immortal) with gold inlay.
Menuki: Shakudo with high-relief carvings of dogs and wildflowers in gold inlay.
Kozuka: Shakudo nanako-ji with high-relief carving of lions and peonies in gold and silver inlay.
Kogatana: Small blade from Seki.
Aoi Art’s Comment: This is a bold and solidly made wakizashi signed on both sides with “Oite Washu Koriyama Ecchu no Kami Nyudo Kijū.”
We highly recommend this blade featuring an excellent and dynamic tōranba hamon.
