Tajima no Kami Hōjōji Tachibana Sadakuni was a skilled smith from the Hōjōji school and a prominent figure following Omi-no-kami Masahiro. His works often resemble those of Kotetsu. This particular piece is notable for having an inscription on the ura side, which is rare.
