First generation of Naoe Shizu Kanetomo
Same person as Yamato no kuni Kunitomo – Nanbokucho period
Blade length: 2 shaku 2 sun (66.7 cm / 26.26 in)
This tachi has a strong curvature in the middle and presents a classical tachi shape.
The signature on the blade is immediately recognizable as a representative work of the Yamato tradition.
He was a swordsmith from Yamato and is counted among the “Ten Students of Masamune”.
Later, he moved to Mino.
He is the first generation of the Yamato Kuni school.
After moving to Mino, he became the son of Shizu Saburo Kaneuji, and together with his teacher Kaneuji (of the Kuni school), relocated from Yamato to Mino.
He changed his name from Kunitomo to Kanetomo.
The works of the first generation Naoe Shizu Kanetomo are excellent, particularly with tachi koshirae.
