This work is classified as Jyojyo Saku for the workmanship of Bungo no Kami Minamoto Masayasu.

Shape: This piece has a wide blade and thick kasane, with a slightly deep curvature and an extended kissaki, representing an excellent form.
Jigane: The koitame hada is well-forged, giving it a clear jigane reminiscent of Osaka-style steel.
Hamon: The hamon is nioi-based with gunome-midare, showing deep nioiguchi. The hamon is reminiscent of a toranba style, with notable kinsuji activity within the blade.

Features:
Bungo no Kami Minamoto Masayasu was originally from Mino and resided in Owari Province, Nagoya.
He produced works that closely resemble those of Hoki no Kami Nobutaka.
Masayasu, a descendant of Itakura Seki Masatoshi from Mino Province, was also known as Ishida Zenzaemon Masayasu.
He signed his works with names like Bungo no Kami Minamoto Masayasu, Bushu ju Zenzaemon no Jo Masayasu, and Ishida Zenzaemon Masayasu.
He relocated from Mino to Owari, producing works in Nagoya.
One remarkable aspect of Masayasu’s works is the clear engraving of his signature and date.
This particular piece is inscribed with the date “August, 1676,” demonstrating excellent craftsmanship with a deep nioiguchi and superb quality.
