Shape: A well-proportioned wakizashi with sturdy width and thickness.
Jigane (Steel Surface):A tightly forged ko-itame hada, producing a refined and dense steel texture.
Hamon (Temper Line):A nioi-based notare with gunome-midare, forming a dynamic and irregular pattern.
The boshi is slightly pointed and curves back roundly.
There is an extended yakisage (hardened area) along the shinogi-ji.
Features:The first-generation Chikugo Daijo Kunifusa was a disciple of Chinsho in Bungo Takada.
The second-generation moved to Osaka and became a student of Yamato no Kami Yoshimichi.
This sword is likely the work of the second generation Kunifusa.
The Kunifusa lineage continued up to the eighth generation around the Ansei era (1860).
Koshirae:
Tsuba: Tatemaru-gata (oval shape) made of silver, carved with a willow tree and a sage.
Fuchikashira: Made of shibuichi, depicting a human figure carved in suaka (copper ground). The fuchi is further decorated with cranes and a landscape.
Saya: Aogai-chirashi saya (scabbard with scattered blue shell inlays).
Menuki: One menuki features a high-relief carving of a tiger, while the other depicts an elderly man with piercing eyes, likely inspired by a Chinese tale.
Kozuka: Made of silver, carved with an image of a person gazing upwards.
