Shape: slightly wide and slightly thin blade with suitabla curvature.
Jigane: Itame and Mokume covered with ji-nie and chikei.
Hamon: Nie-deki gunome and choji midare with nie.
Features: Ikeda Kijinmaru Kunishige was originally a swordsmith of the Mizuta school in Bitchu Province. He later became a student of the second-generation Kawachi no Kami Kunisuke and worked in Ikeda, Osaka. He is also known for his association with Saito Hajime of the Shinsengumi, whose cherished sword is traditionally said to have been made by Kunishige.
This blade displays a bright nioiguchi and a very subdued midare hamon, showing characteristics similar to the work of Kunisuke 2nd gen.
