Features: Echizen-jū Fujiwara Sadakuni was a swordsmith active in Echizen Province during the early Edo period. His workmanship closely resembles that of Yasutsugu, and he is said to have been a disciple of the first-generation Yasutsugu.
This sword features its robust shape and heavy weight. As noted in the appraisal certificate, “Shimosaka was altered to Fujiwara” (「下坂を藤原に改鏨」). Interestingly, only the characters “Fujiwara” appear to have been forcibly re-engraved, resulting in an unusually distorted inscription that offers a fascinating glimpse into the sword’s history.
