This blade is ranked as Jo-saku among works attributed to Mumei (Harima Daijo Shigetaka).
Habaki: Single-layer silver habaki.
Blade Length: 70.5 cm (27.76 in).
Curvature: 1.7 cm (0.67 in).
Mekugi Hole: 4.
Width at Base (Motohaba): 2.64 cm (1.04 in).
Width at Yokote: 1.96 cm (0.77 in).
Thickness of rim (Kasane): 0.67 cm (0.26 in).
Sword Weight: 675 g.
Era: Edo period, around the Kanbun era (1661-1673).
Shape: Carved with a bohi and featuring a slightly elongated kissaki.
Jigane: Well-forged ko-itame hada producing a beautiful steel surface.
Hamon: Ko-gunome mixed with gunome-midare, giving the blade an appearance suggestive of an earlier period.
The boshi continues into an irregular midare pattern.

Features: Echizen ju Harima Daijo Fujiwara Shigetaka was active from around the Kan’ei era (1624-1644).
He is best known for his wakizashi and naginata, while katana by him are said to be extremely rare.
Works by the first-generation Shigetaka, especially katana, are particularly scarce.
Although the accompanying tachi koshirae is well made, it does not appear to date from an early period and is most likely a work made after the Meiji era.
