Following his father’s death, his works began to appear from Kan’ei 10 (1633) onward, and at the age of 29, in Kan’ei 18 (1641), he was granted the title of Ōmi Daijō. Unlike later generations, he never succeeded to the name Tadayoshi, instead signing all of his works as Tadahiro throughout his life. He continued forging swords for approximately sixty years until his death at the age of 80 in Genroku 6 (1693). His surviving works are numerous, and his craftsmanship displays a remarkable variety of styles.
