Meiji period brought a sharp decline in the demand for swords, forcing many swordsmiths to abandon sword production. Although Fujiwara Nobufusa is not famous, this is likely because his period of activity was relatively short and the number of swords he produced was limited. This blade is a robust and substantial work, weighing an impressive 1,010 grams, giving it a powerful and solid presence.
