This work ranks as Jyo Saku among the works of Osafune Jirozaemon no Jo Katsumitsu with Shuuri no Suke.

Jigane: Fine ko-itame hada well forged with a darkish jigane, making this a rare work by Jirozaemon Katsumitsu.
Hamon: Nie-deki gunome-midare mixed with notare-ba, with a deep nioiguchi and visible utsuri.

Features: This is a rare yari by Jirozaemon no Jo Katsumitsu, bearing a collaborative signature with “Shuuri no Suke,” and dated to a lucky day in February of Kyoroku 3 (1530).
It also bears a sayagaki by Kanzan Sensei, making this a highly reliable and excellent piece.

Aoi Art’s Comment: Osafune Jirozaemon no Jo Katsumitsu was one of the representative master swordsmiths of the Osafune school in the late Muromachi period, highly regarded for both beauty and cutting ability.
This work is a rare yari by the smith, displaying excellent forging and clear utsuri, resulting in a dignified and high-class piece.
