This sword belongs to Jyo saku ranking.
Blade length : 25.1 cm or 9.88 inches.
Sori : 0.1 cm or 0.03 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.43 cm or 0.95 inches.
Kasane : 0.64 cm or 0.25 inches.
Era : Middle Muromachi period.
Shape : Regular width and thickness Tanto.
Jitetsu :Itame-hada Masanagare well grained with darkish textured Jitetsu.
There are some whitish rusts on the blade.
Hamon : Nie Deki Suguha with Notare.
In Ha, there are Ko-Ashi. Boshi is round Hakihake style.
Special feature : The Uda school is said to have originated in Yamato province.
The founder Kunimitsu moved to Ettyu province in the last Kamakura period.
It is said that his son, Kunifusa learned under Norishige who created
a peculiar texture of jitetsu compounded soft and hard iron commonly called
matsukawa-hada or Norishige-hada in Japanese. Consequently the texture
of jitetsu is a point worthy of appreciation of Uda School that was very good
at making use of well-tempered iron’s.
Koshirae :
Fuchikashira : Black horn.
Saya : Black Roiro Saya.
Menuki : A straw hat and a coat worn are engraved with gold and copper color.
From Aoi Art: This thick Tanto is well grained which is typical middle Muromachi period
Tanto(400years ago). Koshitae is simple and tasteful.
