Habaki: Double-layered gold-covered habaki

Shape: The blade has a wide body with thickness, retains its original ha (tempered edge), features a carved bohi (groove), and has a slightly extended kissaki (tip), resulting in a heavy piece.
Jigane: Well-forged ko-itame hada with clearly visible fine grain, indicating high quality steel.
Hamon: Made in ko-nie style with a deep nioiguchi. The ashi are well-defined and active. The boshi returns in a small round shape with a deep nioiguchi. The overall appearance resembles works from the Nanbokucho period.

Features:
The real name of the swordsmith Kenichi is Norihito Ueda. He was born on March 20, 1947, and resides in Funada City, Okayama Prefecture. He is a very skilled swordsmith, and I believe this piece was probably submitted for appraisal. As of now (2025), he is 78 years old.

Aoi Art’s Comment:
This work is very well polished and has a solid double-layered gold-covered habaki.
The jigane is excellent, and the hamon displays a deep nioiguchi.
Thanks to this deep nioiguchi, the hamon flows softly toward the kissaki.
I believe it would likely win an Effort Award if submitted for appraisal.
The shirasaya was also carefully crafted, and the workmanship can be clearly felt in this piece.
