Shape:This wakizashi has a wide body with thick kasane, deep curvature, and an extended kissaki.
Jigane:Well-forged ko-itame hada with a fine ji-nie appearing vividly.
Hamon:A gunome-midare pattern with rounded gunome heads aligned evenly. The boshi is a midare-komi style.
Features: Bishu Osafune Norimitsu was active during the Muromachi period.
This blade retains a clearly legible signature and date on the tang, and was crafted with care, revealing that it was intended for one-handed use.
Although it has been shortened with machi-okuri, the blade remains healthy, and both the signature and date are completely intact.
Koshirae:
Tsuba: Owari-style round iron tsuba with openwork design.
Fuchikashira: Shakudo nanako-ji engraved with autumn insects and grasses, decorated with gold iroe.
Saya (Scabbard): Glossy black lacquered saya.
Menuki: Shakudo with a turnip (kabu) motif, engraved and decorated with gold iroe.
Historical Background: In February of 1513 (Eisho 10), Ashikaga Yoshitane reconciled with Ashikaga Yoshiharu.
This period was marked by repeated cycles of war and peace.
