This work is ranked as Jyojyo Saku among swords attributed to Unju.

Shape: This is an O-suriage mumei blade with a deep curvature.
It has two grooves on one side and a single bōhi (wide groove) on the other.
Jigane: Well-forged ko-itame hada with visible utsuri.
Hamon: A nioi-based straight hamon with active ko-ashi.
The boshi turns back in a rounded manner.

Features: The smiths Unshō, Unji, and Unju were active from the late Kamakura to the Nanbokucho period in Ugame (or Ukai) in Bizen Province, descending from Unshō.
They are referred to as the Ugame school or Ukai school due to the alternative writings of the place name.
Because their names begin with the character “Un” (雲), they are also collectively called the “Un group” (Unrui).

Aoi Art’s Comment: This is a well-proportioned blade with a deep curvature and a slightly extended kissaki.
Unju’s works are known for their calm appearance, and this piece displays visible utsuri.
It features a long, gentle hamon.
