This blade is ranked as Saijyo Saku among unsigned works attributed to Masamitsu.
Habaki: Double gold-plated (with finely engraved family crest)

Era: Nanbokucho period
Shape: This blade has a wide body and thick kasane, remounted from a naginata.
Jigane: Well-forged ko-itame hada with prominent utsuri in bar-like shapes.
Hamon: Gunome-midare pattern along with bar-shaped itame hada. The boshi is midarekomi. Utsuri in nioi-deki appears clearly.
Features: Osafune Masamitsu was a disciple of Kanemitsu, and his works are known from the Enbun era of the Nanbokucho period to the Oei era of early Muromachi period.
This blade is a naginata-naoshi with a wide mihaba and a bright, refined hamon.
Aoi Art’s Comment: The tightly packed gunome-midare is a highlight of this piece, and its excellent condition adds further appeal.
The beautiful jigane enhances the high value of this sword.
