This piece is ranked as Jyojyo Saku for Kikuchi-Yari.
Habaki: copper base
Blade Length: 34.8 cm (13.70 in)
Width at Base(Motohaba): 2.21 cm (0.87 in)
Thickness: 1.09 cm (0.43 in)
Blade Weight: 325g
Era: the early Muromachi period, circa 1400
Shape: Narrow and thick blade, the Shinogi-ji in the upper half has been partially cut off, which appears as a neckline when viewed from the side. This is a characteristic shape of the Kikuchi spear.
Jigane: Itame hada with intense grain pattern and Utsuri
Hamon: Ko-nie base Suguha with Sunagashi.
Features:
The Kikuchi spear is said to have been commissioned by the Kikuchi clan, who were active in Higo during the Nanboku-chō period, and crafted by the Enju school.
It is believed to have been used by being tied to the end of a long bamboo pole. In addition to the Enju school, other groups such as the Naminohira school of Satsuma also produced them.
