This piece is ranked as Jyo Saku (above average work) among the works by Katsumitsu.

Shape: Slightly wide blade with bohi (grooves) carved on both sides.
It has a relatively deep curvature and an extended kissaki.
Jigane: Well-forged ko-itame hada, tightly packed and refined.
Hamon: Nie-based, with small gunome-midare.
The boshi is rounded and returns smoothly.

Features: This blade is signed Katsumitsu and comes with a Hozon Kai certificate.
However, there are doubts about the authenticity of the signature.
We are handling this sword without guarantee regarding the signature.

Koshirae:
Tsuba: Shakudo with fish motif, surrounded by silver inlay.
Fuchikashira: Iron base with engraved patterns.
Saya: Lacquered with blue shell inlay design.
Menuki: Shakudo with shishi (lion) motif, decorated with gold and colored inlay.

Aoi Art’s Comment:There were many smiths with the name Katsumitsu from the Muromachi period into the Shinto period, and variations in mei are common.
However, this signature appears to differ from typical examples.
That said, the blade comes with a complete koshirae and has substantial length, making it a recommendable piece.
