Shape: A long spear with a groove carved into the tang.
The carving is of a type not previously seen, making it a rare item.
Jigane: Ko-itame hada with masame and itame appearing, and visible utsuri.
Hamon: Ko-nie deki, straight hamon with slightly deep nioiguchi, with nezu-ashi and ko-ashi appearing.

Features: Monju, said to be another name for the Yamato Tegai school, was highly valued.
While the utsuri in the jigane gives an impression of antiquity, the short nakago indicates that it is a work from the Edo period.
It is said that the Monju spear was quenched using famous water drawn from the “Yanagi no I” spring at a villa in Azabu Goraien, and that the result was so excellent it became known as the Monju spear and was highly prized.
