Shape: Wide blade with solid thickness, deep curvature, and extended kissaki, resulting in a well-balanced appearance.
Jigane: Ko-itame hada, well-forged and refined.
Hamon: Nie-deki with gunome-midare, showing a gentle wave-like pattern with active ko-ashi.
Boshi: Rounded and turned back.
Features: Enju Munenaga was a swordsmith of the Higo Dotanuki school.
He was also known as Higo Dotanuki Koyama Enju Taro Fujiwara Munenaga.
He is recognized as the final master of the Dotanuki tradition.
Aoi Art’s Comment: Enju Munenaga works are typically not long in length.
This piece, however, measures a substantial 75.4 cm, making it a rare and valuable example.
