We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo Saku, Jyojyo Saku, Jyo Saku and Regular Saku.
This piece is ranked as Jyo Saku (above average work) among the works attributed to Koyama Munetsugu (Mumei).

Curvature: 1 bu 5 rin (0.45 cm / 0.18 in)
Mekugi Hole: 1

Thickness of rim (Kasane): 0.80 cm (0.31 in)
Sword Weight: 360 g
Era: Late Edo period
Shape: A wide and thick blade with a robust appearance, featuring double grooves (futatsu-suji-hi) on both sides.
Jigane: Ko-itame-hada, well-forged with visible grain.
Hamon: Ko-nie based gunome-midare with active ashi. The boshi turns back roundly.

Features: This wakizashi is attributed to Koyama Munetsugu.
He was born in 1803 (Kyōwa 3) in Shirakawa and was initially known as Munebei.
He served the Shirakawa Matsudaira family and later moved to Edo, becoming a swordsmith for the Kuwana domain.
Many of his works remain today and are known for their high quality, with virtually no inferior pieces.
This piece is a robust tanto with thick kasane and features double grooves (fusōhi) on both sides. It is in excellent condition.
