At our company, we categorize swordsmiths’ works as Saijo-saku (top quality), Jojo-saku (excellent), Jo-saku (good), and Futsu-saku (normal) based on their craftsmanship. This work is classified as Jojo-saku, signifying its excellent quality among Tanba-no-Kami Yoshimichi’s (First Generation of Osaka) works.

Shape: slightly long Wakizashi with a large curveture
Jigane: blackish Jigane with intense Itame grain pattern
Hamon: Niedeki wavy pattern with intense Sunagashi, reminiscent of Sudare-ba. Boshi is rounded and hakikake.

The 1st generation Osaka Tanba no Kami Yoshimichi was the son of the 1st generation of Kyo-Tanba. He received the title of Tanba no Kami during Shoho era(1644-1648), and then he moved to Osaka. The hamon of this work has a style that is close to sudare-ba, and from the middle to the tip, it particularly resembles the style of the 1st generation of Kyoto.
