Shape: A tachi with a slightly wide blade, deep curvature, and a somewhat short kissaki, showcasing a healthy condition with ubu-ba (original blade edge) remaining.
Jigane: Well-forged ko-itame hada with fine quality jigane.
Hamon: Nie-deki gunome-midare with a small round turn-back (ko-maru) at the boshi.
Features: Gassan Sadakatsu was the son of the first-generation Gassan Sadakazu and produced swords as a substitute for his father until Sadakazu’s later years. After his father’s passing, he demonstrated exceptional skill, crafting swords for the Imperial Family and dedicatory swords for Ise Shrine. He mastered various styles, including the Ayasugi-hada inherited from Sadakatsu.
This piece is exceptionally well-forged, representing the highest level of craftsmanship.
