We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo Saku, Jyojyo Saku, Jyo Saku and Regular Saku.
This piece is ranked as Jyojyo Saku for works by Kawachi no Kami Kunisuke.

Habaki: Single-layered habaki with gold foil

Shape: Slight suriage, but with substantial width and thickness.
Moderate curvature and slightly extended kissaki.
Jigane: Well-forged small itame-hada with a clearly visible grain.
Hamon: Starts as suguha near the hamachi, transitioning to gunome-midare.
Deep nioiguchi with active ashi.
The boshi is round and turns back.

Features: This piece was made by the 2nd generation Kawachi no Kami Kunisuke, also known as “Naka-Kawachi” as he worked between the first and third generations.
He produced a large number of swords, and it is said that he had many clients at the time.
His hamon, often in chōji-midare, was praised as “Shinto Ichimonji” and was especially popular around the Manji era.
During the Kanbun period in the Edo era, the Tokugawa shogunate enforced a sword-wearing ban and restricted ownership among citizens.
Nonetheless, this sword is a firm and reliable example of the “Shinto Ichimonji” style.
